Micronics flowmeter in permanent use at Manchester airport
14 May 2019
A Micronics U4000 is being used permanently at Terminal 2, Manchester Airport to achieve accurate readings of the flow rates of medium temperature hot water on site. The Building Services Engineering division of WH Good Ltd who provide heating, ventilation and air conditioning services were called in to provide the service. The expertise of the Blackburn company which has been established for over 90 years encompasses major new build developments, fit-out projects, regeneration & alternative use schemes, through to the upgrade and enhancement of existing facilities, across a broad range of sectors.
Stuart Tattersall, WH Good’s Senior Mechanical Design Engineer knew the Micronics unit would fit the requirements because his Automation Department had used Micronics flowmeters in the past and recommended the U4000.
The U4000 is a transit time, ultrasonic flow meter designed to work with clamp-on transducers, to provide accurate measurement of liquid flowing within a closed pipe, without the need for any mechanical parts to be inserted through the pipe wall or to protrude into the flow system. It takes just a few minutes to install and there is no need to shut down flow or drain the system. This was particularly relevant in the busy airport, which operates 24 hours a day.
Stuart Tattersall has been completely satisfied with the Micronics unit. “Manchester Airport depend on the U4000 to obtain reliable readings and keep it permanently on site. WH Good will definitely purchase another Micronics flowmeter when the need arises.”
