Woodhouse Farm Holiday Park's Biomass Heating System
26 March 2024
Woodhouse Farm Holiday Park, located in Ripon, North Yorkshire, has implemented an innovative heating solution to meet its diverse energy needs. The park's management opted for the Sontex Supercal 5S Qn1.5 3/4" (G1"), Screwed Wired M-Bus & Pulse system, which is not only efficient but also MID approved, making it eligible for Renewable Heat Incentive (RHI) claims.
Woodhouse Farm Holiday Park is a popular destination with various amenities for holidaymakers to enjoy. Its facilities boast a restaurant, play barn, touring park, fishing lakes and much more.
Woodhouse Farm wanted to step towards a greener future, opting for a biomass boiler to heat their shower blocks, restaurant, play barn, offices and its 4 houses. The diverse facilities demand a reliable and sustainable heating solution to ensure comfort for guests and efficient operation for the park.
The management sought a solution that would make them eligible for the RHI program, providing financial incentives for renewable energy use, and a lesser carbon footprint.
The chosen solution was the Biomass Boiler and the Sontex Supercal 5S. A system which offers a combination of wired M-Bus and Pulse technology, providing precise measurement and control of energy consumption. Its approval under the MID (Measuring Instruments Directive) ensures accuracy and compliance with European standards.
The biomass boiler was installed to replace the existing heating system. The Supercal 5S was integrated into the heating infrastructure. The installation was conducted with minimal disruption to the park's operations, and the system was configured to monitor and regulate heating across different zones effectively.
This case study demonstrates the positive impact of renewable energy solutions, both economically and environmentally, for businesses in the hospitality sector.
